Per Ekedahl, Short CV

 

Per Ekedahl has a background as music teacher, professional choir singer and choir conductor. (for the choir-curriculum, see other page) He studied Musicology at Uppsala University and has a MA in music pedagogy from Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He has worked with different musical and cultural projects for young people, and been a programmer and manager of numerous concert productions for many years, adding up to more than 25 years experience of concerts for young audiences. He is an often engaged lecturer, in particular concerning concerts and culture for young people. He has also supervised and coordinated national and international music competitions, and for 11 years chaired the jury in Sweden's biggest competitions for young Musicians.

Per Ekedahl has been involved in Jeunesses Musicales as from year 2000. Since 2002 Per Ekedahl was a member of the board of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), and was from 2008 until 2014 the President of JMI.

In 2014 he was appointed Honorary President of JMI.

-  Organiser of national and international conferences, particularly about young audiences.

-  Frequent lecturer about concerts for young audiences

-  Responsible for the largest music competition for young musicians in Sweden; Musik Direkt, and from 2000 to 2010 the chairman of the jury of the national final.

-  Manager of the international choir competition; The Eric Ericson Award (2009)

-  Manager of The Swedish Soloist Prize (2009-2010)

-  Various positions in Jeunesses Musicales International, board member and in committees, from 2000 and onwards

-  President of Jeunesses Musicales International from 2008 until 2014

- 2014 appointed Honorary President of JMI
